The exhibition includes letters to families, a war diary illustrating troopship life and soldiers' training, fitting out the Hospital Ship 'Maheno' with a bacteriological laboratory and the Dunedin Fire Brigade appeal to the Otago Military Service Board for exemption from service. Of particular interest, are the war diary and letters home from Alexander Mee to his wife, Jessie in 1917. Alexander Mee was from Brighton, near Dunedin. He was declared - Missing Believed Killed - on 12 October 1917 at the Battle of Passchendaele.
