As part of the centenary of the Gallipoli landing a large group of crafters known as 5000 Poppies NZ came together and created red poppy panels as a sign of respect for the New Zealand servicemen who lost their lives at Gallipoli and subsequent battles during World War One.

The project grew rapidly and now over 25 000 poppies are on display at several locations around New Zealand.

Over 7000 of these poppies are currently on display at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand.
The poppy panels at the Air Force Museum will be on display in the atrium until the end of September 2015.
