100 years after WW1 we remember and we pay tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the soldiers. We also look forward to the world of peace and understanding they fought for. Young students of the German language in Wellington are decorating white balloons on the themes of peace & understanding - "Frieden und Verständigung" in German - and will gather with their balloons in the presence of the German Ambassador, Dr Anne-Marie Schleich and the Mayor of Wellington, Celia Wade-Brown. Nearly 100 balloons for peace... It seemed appropriate to add the classic Nena song: 99 Luftballons!

Come along at 10am to see the balloons and join in singing this old favourite! This is a free event and all are welcome.
