The Embassy of the Republic of Turkey is delighted to announce the launch of Çanakkale – Road to peace out of war, a photographic exhibition offering a unique Turkish perspective of the War at Gallipoli at the Otaki Museum.

Developed from photographic images taken during the war, by the soldiers who fought in the trenches, this exhibition explores a side of the war at Gallipoli never before seen by many, especially New Zealanders and Australians (the ANZACs).

The exhibition runs in conjunction with the Otaki Museum’s exhibition, Otaki Remembers World War I. Together they reveal a poignant insight from the ANZAC and Turkish trenches.

Çanakkale – Road to peace out of war will be presented in various locations throughout New Zealand from June to November 2015. For updates on the programme please visit the Embassy’s website and Facebook page.

The Embassy of the Republic of Turkey wishes to thank the Otaki Museum, Archives New Zealand, RNZRSA and ProductionShed TV, for their generous support and assistance, which, together with the generosity of the Turkish families who own the images, has made this exhibition possible.
