Captives of the Kaiser: Researching Prisoners of War during the First World War

This talk will examine the conditions under which Prisoners of War lived during the First World War - from Germany to Turkey. A variety of military and civilian records will be used to illustrate methods that can be used to research this topic.

Maureen West works in the Central Auckland Research Centre at Auckland Libraries. She is a genealogical researcher and teacher who specialises in English, Irish, and New Zealand research. She has a particular interest in the history of prisoners of war during the Second World War.
