Where: Thames Racecourse, Parawai Road, Parawai, Thames, The Coromandel

Restrictions: All Ages

Ticket Information:

  • Admission: Free

A street parade of vintage and veteran military vehicles ranging from a WW1 ambulance through transport vehicles to armoured vehicles. Approximately 50 military vehicles will be on parade. There will also be a fly over of bi-planes. The parade will commence from the southern end of Pollen Street (Thames main street) and turn off onto Mary Street where it will transit to the Thames racecourse on Parawai Road for a static display where the public is invited to inspect and interact with the participants. Good photo opportunities with the kiddies!

At 2:30 pm there will be a battle re-enactment taking place on the race course in front of the grandstand. Expect to see and hear real gunfire from rifles, Bren guns and machine guns.

We have organised transport to and from the static display. A free shuttle service will leave from the bus stop outside Baxters Furnishings on Sealey Street from about 12:00pm.

Food and drink stalls will be running to keep everyone well fed but you are welcome to bring a picnic as well.

This is a free event organised by the Thames Lions Club on behalf of the RSA and Kings Empire Veterans Association, however a gold coin donation to help defray expenses would be appreciated.
