In recognition of the part horses played in WWI and Forbury Park’s role as a regional staging post for soldiers leaving for the Front in 1914, Forbury Park is hosting a commemorative race evening to remember the role that horses, their riders and attendants played in WW1.

A March Past with the colours of local units by pony club representatives will start the evening. There will be on-course food sales and entertainment, WW1 displays, races named after key WW1 events, a Commemorative Race Programme and the evening will finish with the Last Post.

Racing fans will also be rewarded at the meeting with a special parade by New Zealand Champion trotter – Terror to Love. The standard bred race horse is a three-time winner of the New Zealand Trotting Cup and was 2013 New Zealand Harness Horse Of The Year.

A Commemorative Dinner will be hosted in the Forbury Lounge for invited guests and interested parties. To book contact Forbury Park on 03 455 2154 or email office@forburypark.co.nz
