2015 marks the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Gallipoli. A nine-month campaign involving French, English, Irish, Australians, Indians and New Zealanders landing on far away shores to bring battle directly to Germany's newest ally. It also involved Turks bravely defending their homeland.

From July 29 through to August 8, a cast of 13 will perform Maurice Shadbolt's celebrated play Once On Chunuk Bair as we honour and remember the disastrous Gallipoli campaign.

This play depicts the uniquely New Zealand viewpoint from the side of the hill Chunuk Bair, which Rotorua Little Theatre have re-created on the stage at the Shambles Theatre.

Audiences will experience the humour as well as the horror, the absurdity and the adversity, bringing to life a small moment in a much bigger conflict... a moment that represents a world at war.
