The Pointon Collection of Cars & Costume remembers Great-Uncle Fred Perrin with his personal letters, photos & papers, plus "War brings a revolution in women's dress".

We show original clothing from this period in time that so dramatically changed so many lives. From the beautiful silk, lace & beaded pre-war wedding gown, to the unworn trousseau that was accumulated in the hope that the loved one would return from war. Those that were left in New Zealand had new roles to play & fashions reflected this. We see families waving goodbye as troops left for camp, then women held garden parties & shop days to raise money for soldiers "comfits" & then there was the welcome home for those returning heroes, and Anzac Day.

This very special display opens on Friday 17th April & shows daily 10am to 4pm until closing 4pm on Monday 4th June.
