The Battle of the Somme began in July and went through to November 1916 with a peak in September. It brought a new level of reality to the world and New Zealand on the meaning of war in the Industrial Age.
This presentation will be given by Mr. Matthew Buck from Wellington. Matthew is the Senior Heritage Advisor to the NZ Defence Force, and respected military historian, currently researching the Battle of the Somme as part of his work.
Presentation is hosted by the Marlborough Historical Society Inc.
