Farewell Zealandia is an exhibition developed by David Dell of the Musical Heritage New Zealand Trust and Tony Rasmussen of Te Manawa. The Exhibition features 20 forgotten Kiwi songs from WW1 and tells the fascinating stories of the writers and composers. David and Tony worked alongside Radio NZ Concert as they recording these original songs, with the musical arrangements for Salon Orchestra by Brett Lowe. The Exhibition reveals these forgotten songs for the first time. It explores the impact of war through the eyes of these 26 Kiwi songwriters who composed these stunning songs during the turbulent war years of 1914-1918.

The Exhibition is in the iconic Anzac Hall, 62 Bell St, Featherston. The Anzac Hall would have to rate as one of the best kept secrets of the Wairarapa – a national taonga – and the exhibition runs till Anzac Day [25th April 2016]. Entry to the exhibition is free.

The exhibition is presented by Aratoi Wairarapa Museum of Art and History with generous funding from South Wairarapa District Council.

Running alongside the Exhibition is the Farewell Zealandia Concert Series, with three Sunday afternoon concerts in the Anzac Hall: Sunday 27 March 2016 @ 2pm; Sunday 10 April 2016 @ 2pm; Sunday 24 April 2016 @ 2pm. Please see the information about these concerts in the link above.

The Musical Heritage New Zealand Trust is always looking for any old printed music to add to the Archive - NZ and overseas music is accepted.
