Poppy Making at Ashburton Art Gallery and Heritage Centre.
Keen to make a poppy for Anzac Day? See the Ashburton First World War Wall of Honour? Learn more about First World War history? Ashburton Art Gallery and Heritage Centre is open daily.
Open Anzac Day, 1-4:00 p.m.
‘Their Name Liveth: Commemorating Our Fallen’ is the new First World War installation at the Ashburton Art Gallery and Heritage Centre.
A moving two-story high Wall of Honour lists the nearly 500 people from the Ashburton District who lost their lives during the First World War. Historic medals, poppies, facsimiles of letters and telegrams are displayed alongside. Visitors are invited to make their own commemorative paper poppy. Materials are supplied, along with instructions. Take your poppy away or add to the Wall.
We encourage everyone to take time to honour those fallen. The Centre will be open 1:00-4:00pm on Anzac Day.
