Travel with Steam Incorporated on this special Anzac excursion one way from Wellington to Paekakariki.

The train will be hauled by our “new” steam locomotive Ab608 “Passchendaele” and we will be using our fleet of heritage carriages, most with open end balconies.

WWI Memorial locomotive Ab608 “Passchendaele” only returned to service in mid 2014 after a major restoration taking many years and costing over half a million dollars. Ab608 was built in 1915, the first of the successful and prolific Ab class, and in 1925 named “Passchendaele” in memory of all of the railwaymen that fell in the Great War. It is fitting that we are able to run this excursion on Anzac Day.

Most of the carriages on the train were built over 100 years ago and were in service during WWI.

One way fares Adult $25, Child (Under 13) $15.
Infant under 2 years no charge if sitting on adult lap.

Book online at steaminc website or via Facebook app. Online bookings only.

Provisional departure from Wellington 2.20pm.
Arrives Paekakariki 3.20pm.
You can also board at Takapu Road at 2.30pm.
