Are you after a real lollapalooza? Join us for a First World War-era dance extravaganza. Learn popular wartime dances from 12pm to 2pm at a free workshop led by Mark Glastonbury, and then from 7pm dance the night away at the Swanker’s Club Revival – a recreation of a 1910s social dance, the likes of which would have been part of the Wanganui Swanker’s Club fundraising efforts during the First World War.
The dances will be accompanied by live music, from ragtime duo The Slick Suit Serenaders, and other musical guests. A table of era-appropriate supper treats and non-alcoholic beverages will be available to fuel your dance moves.
Dressing up in the Swanker's Club uniform of top hat and tails is strongly encouraged (along with other 1910s garb) Prizes will be awarded for the best dressed.
Presented by the Whanganui Regional Museum. Ages 12+.
