A commemorative production to mark the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of Passchendaele.

Written and directed by Dunedin historian and playwright Keith Scott, this play tells the story of three young Otago men at home and in France during 1917. It takes them on a journey from a summer day’s fishing by the Taieri to the horrors of the Somme, and beyond. Some experiences are shared, others are faced alone. Some truths are admitted, others are not. Some dawns bring the sun, others only shadows.

This play is also two love stories which have their own sacrifice, and a story about forces operating in and around us that determine our path and our choices. We cannot see or hear them, but we can feel them when they collide with the course of our lives. That can bring fear, but it can also bring forgiveness and freedom.
