This is the fifth Commemorative Service undertaken by the South Canterbury WWOne Centenary Committee.
This service will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Passchendaele on the Western Front in Belgium during WWI.
Timaru District Council Mayor Damon Odey and new MP for Rangitata Andrew Falloon will attend along with the Canterbury District RSA President Stan Hansen.
Our key note speaker is Sean Brosnahan who will deliver a speech on the Battle of Passchendaele and what it meant for New Zealanders and South Canterbury at that time.
We will unveil another interpretative panel in our newly formed WWI Commemorative Garden near the Cenotaph at the Timaru Botanic Gardens. This has more information about the Battle of Passchendaele and what that meant for New Zealanders.
Everyone is welcome. This event will be held at the RSA on Wai-iti Road, Timaru if it is wet.
