Award winning Birkdale author Matt Elliott, author of 'War Blacks' and 'Nice Day For a War' will be talking about the extraordinary story of New Zealand's World War One All Black Captain and soldier Dave Gallaher.
The talk is taking place within days of the centenaries of Dave Gallaher's death and that of the Battle of Passchendaele.
There will be an Artefact Digitisation Unit on loan from Auckland Museum for people to search the Online Cenotaph and lay virtual poppies on the records of family members or even digitise memorabilia such as medals. Library staff will be happy to help with this.
