Anzac Memorial, Ngā Tapuwae' New Zealand First World War Trails.

This memorial has been constructed in consultation with the Ministry for Culture & Heritage.

Ngā Tapuwae is a WW100 legacy project that helps guide people on a journey to discover more about New Zealand’s First World War story, either from home or on the trails overseas, through online digital content - www.ngatapuwae.govt.nz.

Ngā Tapuwae means ‘the footsteps’, which encapsulates the idea that people can follow in the footsteps of New Zealand First World War soldiers by exploring famous battle sites at Gallipoli and the Western Front and imagining the scenes that unfolded there.

Ngā Tapuwae logo is a registered trademark (Registration number 1006413).

In front of the memorial are four white crosses with a wreath attached to each one acknowledging those who died serving New Zealand in the Army, Navy, Air Force and as nurses.
