Armistice Day 1918, New Zealand had 58,129 troops in the field, while an additional 10,000 were under training in New Zealand. The signing of the Armistice is observed annually in New Zealand at 11am on 11 November (the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month).

Armistice Day marks the end of World War One and Hamilton City Council is hosting a public commemorative service for those soldiers who fought in the war. The formal service begins at 10am around the Cenotaph in Memorial Park.

There will be a minute of silence at 11am to signify when the truce went into effect and in memory of those New Zealand soldiers who died while serving their country.
