Sandra Coney's new book "Gone West: Great War memorials of Waitakere and their soldiers" is a fascinating account of the War Memorials of West Auckland, and the soldiers and families of the area.

Have you ever looked at the names on WWI War Memorials and wondered at the stories behind the names? Sandra's new book delves into the history of local memorials, alongside the personal stories of the soldiers and families involved. This talk will bring history alive, and give faces to some of the names you see engraved.

This event will appeal to people interested in local history or those who would like to learn more about the process of family history. This is Sandra’s second talk, which will focus on the areas of Titirangi, New Lynn and Kaitarakihi (Huia). She will be available to answer questions at the end of her talk.

Sandra Coney is renowned for her meticulous research and outstanding knowledge of West Auckland history. She is a long-standing Waitakere Ranges Local Board member and successful author.
