The Arts Centre will join with the rest of Aotearoa New Zealand to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day on Sunday 11 November at 10.45am.

We will join together to remember outside the Great Hall under the Memorial Window at the corner of Rolleston Avenue and Worcester Boulevard.

The Rev Peter Beck will lead the memorial, with a wreath being laid under the window, and the two minute silence will be observed when the clock strikes 11am.

At 11.02am, the Clock Tower bell will ring 100 times to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War, joining with the rest of New Zealand to recreate “a roaring chorus of gladsome sounds” of celebration from 1918.

The Memorial Window in the Great Hall is a World War 1 memorial to the 235 fallen men from Canterbury College, the School of Art, School of Engineering and Christchurch Boys’ High School.

There will be information boards regarding the Memorial Window and featuring some of the local servicemen displayed by the Clock Tower during the weekend of 10-11 November .

You are invited to join the Arts Centre community in remembering this historic moment.
