On Sunday 11th November we are holding a special service to mark Armistice Day, 100 years after the end of World War One.

On a railway carriage in France, the armistice was signed which brought to an end 4 years of fighting at the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month. In Christchurch, thousands poured into Cathedral Square to greet the news of the end of the war with great jubilation.

A special service, organised by the Anglican Parish of Burnside-Harewood will be held at Harewood School Multi-Purpose Room, beginning at 10.15am and ending with a commemoration at the Harewood Cenotaph.

We will be joined by some of the senior students from Harewood School to present their work. We will also be joined by the Air Cadets and members of the wider Harewood Community. Following the service, all are invited to bring a picnic to enjoy on the paddock at St James' Church.
