To commemorate the liberation of the ancient walled city of Le Quesnoy in France by NZ troops we will be having a display and video produced by the Browns Bay U3A group. On 4 November we will live stream the memorial service from the WW100 site.

Le Quesnoy was a very well fortified walled and moated city that had been held by the Germans for most of the War. In a remarkable act of bravery Kiwi forces liberated the city with minimal damage to buildings and infrastructure and no loss of civilian life, just a week before Armistice.

To this day the French are grateful for the sacrifice made by the NZ soldiers. On 4 November we will live stream the memorial service from the WW100 site.
