Make flags and decorations, and join a children’s parade – come to a celebration of peace, 100 years after the end of World War I.

One hundred years ago this weekend, New Zealand celebrated the end of World War I. Flags waved, sirens sounded, and children sang patriotic songs.

Bring your whānau to celebrate peace with a day of craft-making and activities. Come along in period costume if you like!

Programme

All-day activities
- Create your own flag and decorations
- Write a peace message for the children of the future and pin it on our tree

Parade: 1.30–1.45pm & 3–3.15pm
- Take a march around the museum

Brass band: 1.45–1.55pm & 3.15–3.25pm
- Hear a brass band play the songs of World War I
